The DuraVent 1648SS is a single wall. You'll need to stay with the same interior diameter of 8" if that's your existing pipe and stay with the the same triple wall if you're in the same room. Unless you want to switch from triple to single wall.

As far as putting a liner in double-walled stove pipe, the manufacturer of both the liner and the double-walled stove pipe are okay with it, the manufacturer of your appliance is probably okay with it, but the original manufacturer of your pre-fab box would not be okay with it and in the case of house fire, you would be liable because of that one weak link. Professional installers do this all day long, but it is a big controversy in the industry.
